The Lowry is proud to present the premiere of new production FADE by artist Alice Christina-Corrigan from Thursday 4th – Friday 5th April.
Following the sudden death of their mother, estranged siblings Cassie and Rubin are reunited in their family home. As they begin packing up furniture and keepsakes, they start unpacking their life – relationships and truth. Transcending past, present and a not-so-distant future, FADE is a tale of sibling allyship, and how far we are willing to go to protect each other.
FADE will feature Lauren-Nicole Mayes as Cassie (Dear Little Loz, Edinburgh Fringe; Coronation Street, ITV), Matthew Devlin as Rubin (SAGA, BBC; G’WED, ITV; Little Boy Blue, ITV) Daneka Etchells as 2010 Cassie (Emmerson and Ward (2024); Great Border City, Paines Plough; The Safe Zone, DADA Fest) and Stefan Race as 2010 Rubin (G’WED, ITVX; Eric, Netflix; Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Warner Bros)
Against a backdrop of shifting timelines, this moving new production from writer and theatre maker Alice Christina-Corrigan (Past Life and drama series SIGHT UNSEEN) features dynamic new writing, integrated creative access and original music to tell a nuanced story of family life and what happens when the past and present finally meet to reveal the true nature of coming home.

Alice Christina-Corrigan is a visually impaired & neurodivergent actor, writer and creative access director based in Manchester. Created by a disabled-led team, with FADE Alice is focused on securing disability representation through all elements of the production with access embedded into every decision-making process. Developed with integrated creative access at its heart FADE is Alice’s second creatively accessible show; Creative Access is the integration of traditional access devices that typically sit outside of the creation of a theatre production. It can use tools such as integrated audio description, creative captioning, BSL Interpretation and sensory exploration to evoke a multi-sensory and creative story-led access to a production.

Formed in 2009 ‘Developed With’ is The Lowry’s flagship artist development programme for early to mid-career artists who are establishing their practice and creative identity, and are looking for time, space and support to take a significant step forward in their work. Funded by Arts Council England and Salford City Council, the Developed With The Lowry program offers a bespoke package of support for artists over 12-18 months to create ambitious, high-quality work and develop their professional practice.
Alice Christina Corrigan, writer and Creative Access Director said: “FADE is about the depth of sibling allyship and the role our siblings play in moulding our lives. It’s about the comforting silences and the uncomfortable reflection they are capable of showing you. FADE is a harrowing tale of how one decision can alter the trajectory of that relationship forever. As much as the play doesn’t reflect my life, FADE is dedicated to my brother. My accidental twin.”
FADE is commissioned by The Lowry as part of the ‘Developed With’ programme with additional support from Arts Council England, Leeds Playhouse, Theatre Deli Sheffield, CRIPtic, Extant, Royal Court, Katie Scott, and Box of Tricks.
