This years TEDx Manchester was a 1 day event held at the Bridgewater Hall, a lovely spacious venue with an easy to access cafe and seating area.

When you initially book tickets to a TEDx Manchester event you initially go in blind! By that I mean that the speakers are only announced a couple of months after the tickets go on sale, so for early bookers like us you never initially know who you will be seeing on the day. That being said, we have been to many of Herb Kim’s events and he has never failed to deliver a day full of inspiring talks, so booking early tickets was a no-brainer.

A month or so before the event the speakers were announced and, as ever, Herb had put together a great line-up. Their talks ranged from a talk on whether human cells are batteries (Electromes) to Sharks and their endangerment, to whether admitting your desires is actually a liberating thing.

The event was an incredible experience. From the moment we arrived we were impressed with the level of organization. From the volunteers who were always helpful and friendly, to the inspiring speakers and panel discussions, it was an inspiring day.

Overall, the TEDx Manchester event was an incredibly enjoyable and thought-provoking experience. I would strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to be inspired and learn more about innovation and technology. You definitely end the day knowing a whole lot more than you did, which I consider to be a huge win.

If you are looking for a day in which you do something every different from your normal life, you should consider attending the next TEDx Manchester event. Details of future events will be available on the TEDx Manchester website nearer the time.
